Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Waterton Lakes National Park

I have written about some very large National Parks in Canada, so today I'm writing about the smallest National Park - Waterton Lakes National Park, but even though it is the smallest it is still in the top ten most visited National Parks in Canada - and is a great place to take the entire family!

Summer Reading - Fluffle Bunnies - Buns Gone Bad

Two years ago I received a package of wonderful books from Penguin/ Random House Canada/Tundra and today I'm sharing with you again about one of these books - it was so excellent, it is absolutely well worth getting for the children you love if you didn't already do so. One of the best and most important things we are able to do for the children we love is to surround them with books from their youngest ages, read to and with them, because when we do they will begin talking sooner, they will have a larger vocabulary, will begin reading sooner, and will do better in school. Plus, all this reading and spending time together will help build strong relationships with you and the children you love.

So, this Summer be certain to surround the children you love with books - such as Fluffle Bunnies - Buns Gone Bad by Anna Humphrey and Irma Kniivila.

Water-Wars for Hot Summer Fun!

Many places in our country have been and still currently are downright hot, so, what might the children you love want to do if it is a warm, sunny, even a hot day and they are at your house?

Play in the water! And, not just play in the water, but use squirt guns if you have them.

Dr. Seuss Quotes - Just for the Fun of It!

The month of March was Dr. Seuss Month, but, I thought I'd share a few more quotes.

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Wapusk National Park

Yesterday I didn't write about one of Canada's National Parks as since it was Canada Day, I wrote about celebrating Canada! There are four more National Parks for me to write about so today I'm writing about another very remote National Park in Canada - Wapusk National Park.

July is National Ice Cream Month

By the way, did you know July is National Ice Cream Month?! I do enjoy a nice bowl of ice cream, but since I've been focused on losing weight (I've lost 100lbs since the start of 2020!), I rarely eat this sweet treat. I have found, however; sorbetto on a stick - especially the mini-size only has 50 calories per serving! Hooray!

But back to ice cream - let's look at some ice cream fun facts - did you know . . .

crafting with grandma - Fireworks in a Bottle!

The 4th of July is just a few days away and if you are looking for a fun craft which you could make with your grandchildren, check this one for Fireworks in a Bottle which I found on Pinterest!

Maple Pork Rice Using Rice From Ralston Family Farms

I recently bought some rice from Ralston Family Farms and I have to say, this is some of the best rice I've ever had! So, I thought I'd learn a little about Ralston Family Farms and share with you my recipe for Maple Pork Rice.

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Canada Day

Today I'm happy to let you know about another holiday in Canada - Canada Day which is celebrated every year on July 1st. Some people think Canada Day is like the 4th of July in the US, but this "Lost Canadian" has learned while both holidays involve independence from the United Kingdom, Canada Day marks the beginning of Canada's path to sovereignty—starting with Confederation in 1867. Complete independence came gradually, with major milestones in 1931 (Statute of Westminster) and 1982 (Constitution Act). Here are the details you need to know about celebrating Canada Day . . .

Happy Canada Day!

Yes, Happy Canada Day! Today is this "Lost Canadian's" first Canada Day, so I thought I'd learn about some of the things which make Canada such an amazing place and so absolutely worthy of celebrating today - and every day. I learned . . .

4th of July Fun! Lawn Stars!

If you are looking for a fun and different way to decorate for the 4th of July, then check this idea I found on Pinterest for lawn stars! They are made with just flour and water and are a fun idea which you could involve your grandchildren in helping you to make the stars!

Today is National Tell a Joke Day!

Why don’t cats like online shopping? They prefer a cat-alogue.

What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef.

What is a cat’s favorite song? Three Blind Mice.

What do you call an alligator wearing a vest? An in-vesti-gator.

Okay, well, Today is National Tell a Joke Day, so I thought I'd share a few jokes from the Today Show's Jokes for Kids - you will find more at this link, because of course, one big way to celebrate Tell a Joke Day, is by telling jokes!

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Vuntut National Park

I have been surprised by how Canada has quite a few National Parks which are "remote" to say the least. I suppose considering how a large portion of Canada is in the "far North" I should not be surprised by this. Perhaps a more accurate way to say this would be to say I am so impressed by how Canada is choosing to preserve remote places - whether lots of people will travel there or not! Apparently in Canada National Parks are not just places for lots of people to spend their vacations, they are places of incredible beauty worth preserving and protecting - Vuntut National Park is one such place for sure!

Tomorrow is Canada Day!

Since I have recently learned I am able to become a Canadian citizen because my ancestors were Canadians (Canada Bill C-3 - look it up - you too could be a Canadian!), this year I'm celebrating Canada Day! What is Canada Day, you ask? Well, Canada Day unites the nation of Canada every July 1, commemorating the anniversary of the Constitution Act of 1867. This pivotal act consolidated three territories into the single nation of Canada.
