Since the middle of April when I learned I am a "Lost Canadian", it matters to me to know all I can about Canada. While I have learned many things, there clearly are a great many things I still do not know and have yet to learn. Today I'm sharing some of the unique things I've learned online about the Canadian Territory of Yukon . . .

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" On the Unique Things About the Yukon
August is "Back to School Month"!
For many children, my grands included, August is when they return to school for the 2026/27 school year. While some children may not find the return to school a reason to celebrate, most children are ready to go back to class so they are able to engage with their friends and learn new things - certainly reasons to celebrate for sure! So, how do we celebrate the return to school? Holiday calendar had some excellent ideas - consider the following . . .
National Soft Ice Cream Day

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Sugarmaking
This past April when I learned I am a "Lost Canadian" I learned many surprising things about myself and my ancestors. First of all, I did not know any of my ancestors were from Canada and just from 1800 on, fifteen of my ancestors were from Canada (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia). I learned my ancestors from Nova Scotia were sugarmakers - they made maple syrup.

What could be a better way to start the Fall than with books! So, today I am very happy to let you know about a very fun book . . . The Little, Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures - and this book has two stories in it, so you get two books in one!
August is National Coffee Month
I thought it would be fun to look up some coffee fun facts - did you know . . .
Today is National Ice Cream Pie Day!
My family LOVES peanut-butter pie! I've been making it for years . . . ever since my sister shared the recipe with me when I was first married . . . my family has been forever grateful to my sister for this!
Well, a couple years ago it occurred to me, if I "tweaked" the recipe just a bit and substituted ice cream for the whipped cream, I might end up with a wonderful, new pie! So, I told my family they were going to be "guinea pigs" for a new peanut-butter pie recipe with ice cream in it . . . they said they were completely willing to be "guinea pigs" for the recipe!

Make a Difference this School Year by Praying Deeper, Together!

Praying for our grandchildren (and children) is something we all know we need to do, but it is also something with which many of us struggle. We may feel like our prayers do not even make it through the ceiling above us and do not know what to say or how to pray. Our lives are busy, so finding the time to pray oftentimes is a challenge which we may not overcome and then days go by without us spending time in prayer.
Yet, we know prayer is important. We know, especially in this day and age, we - and our grandchildren (and children) need all the prayer they can get. We want to be people who pray; and people who pray deeply, but are not sure how to be this kind of person.National I Love My Feet Day!
Today is National I Love My Feet Day! Clearly feet make our lives easier . . . at least when it comes from getting from here to there, but they are also handy to have for standing, riding bikes, jumping, dancing, and so many more things! Aren't we all so glad God gave us feet!
So, to celebrate this special day, let's look at some fun feet facts - did you know . . .
Please Stand Up & Speak Up

I have been posting this several times a month, and with all the things which are happening in our world, I'm sharing it again today. I write grandma's cookie jar to provide ideas for ways grandmas - and grandpas, moms, and dads might connect the children they love with God and build strong, loving relationships. I share recipes, book reviews, fun facts, and more - I have tried to stay away from politics. But not today. People I know and love live in fear. People I do not know live in fear - and some are dying at the hands of our government - in our country and now around the world. Our government is drowning in corruption and the trump-epstein files causes great concern. I can not stay silent as to be silent is to be complicit and I will not be complicit. I do not believe Jesus would be silent, either. So, I am sharing images I found on instagram - they say what I am thinking.

Grandparent's Day Gift Idea - Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Grandparents & Parents, Too!

Grandparents Day is on September 13th, so if you are looking for a gift to give a grandparent in your life, consider Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Grandparents & Parents, Too! When you look at the world around you, do you wonder how your grandchildren/children will possibly grow up to love, know and follow God with faithful hearts? There are so many things to deceive them and side-track or derail their walk with God. But, we do not have to wonder or worry. No! We are able to do something about it! We are able to pray and know God not only hears our prayers, but He listens and answers them as well!
