The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures!

Recently I shared how when my grandson were young and at my house for a sleepover, we typically made up stories at bedtime. They almost always had monsters or dinosaurs in them. One night when my oldest grandson was six, my middle grandson was three, and my youngest grandson was one, we were getting them into bed when my oldest grandson said he saw a monster under his brother's bed! This was not what my middle grandson wanted to hear, so I said there could not be any monsters under his bed because the monsters were at their poppa's and grandma's house getting ready for bed on their sleepover. My grandsons found this idea very interesting, so of course, our bedtime story for the night had to have little, ginormous, humongous, hairy, one-eyed monster boys getting ready for bed and being scared because they thought they saw, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, not-so-hairy, two-eyed people boys under their beds!

Truths about Grandparents . . .

This morning I was thinking about being a grandma and what an amazing blessing it is, so I looked up a few quotes about grandmas/ grandparents and thought I'd share some with you . . .

grandma's chuckles - Hugs - They are Good for You!

I am very blessed to have my grands at my house often, but today I'm remembering a time nine years ago when they were seven, four, and two years old and were here - they had spent the night and as we were getting ready for bed, I hugged the two younger ones and then asked my oldest grand if they wanted a hug, too. He did, so of course, I happily hugged him.

More Quotes from Dr. Seuss!

My grands typically spend the night on Saturdays, and since my oldest grand is just a few months from being 17, I know what an amazing blessing it is they still want to come for their weekly sleepover! When they are here we often play Abducktion (a very fun board game) or chess - both require strategy and my grands are quite strategic!

So, with a mind for "fun", I thought it would work to share some additional Dr. Seuss quotes with you!

I am "Vintage"

As the children we love grow up, their sweet rascally selves continue to show up from time to time. Two years ago when my grands were 14, 11, and 9 they told me I am "vintage" - like everything which was made back when I was born. Hmmm - they are saying I am old, but in a sweet way!

😀😆😂🤣🙂😉

Today is Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day!

Today is Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! Who knew there was such a "day", but apparently there is! I looked on-line and found the following information about Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day . . .

The Language of Science and Faith - a MUST Have Book for us All

I have been writing for some time about the need for us as grandmas (grandpas/parents, as well) to equip ourselves so we know the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real and trust Him with confidence, so we are able to teach the "whys" to the children we love. When we are losing more of our grandchildren than ever before to atheism, we must step up and take action. We must equip ourselves, find and use resources with them to help them know the "whys", and ask our churches to do the same.

Grandparenting is about far more than baking cookies, having sleepovers, staying in touch with our grandchildren, and hugs . . . although I am strongly in favor of all those things, it is about handing down confident faith. It is about stepping up and focusing on learning what we need to know so we are able to help the ones we love know what they need to know. We must not fail to do this.

It Just Takes a Few Simple Words

One time, a few years ago, when my grands were at my house, my then six-year-old grand was talking when I told them something which had a huge impact. I looked at them and said; “Do you know why I know God loves me?

Grandmas, Don't Forget to Show Love in the Little Ways

Yes, there are many things we do as grandparents to show love to our grandchildren - very often these are big things . . . but there are also little things we need to remember to do as well. We may think the little things do not really matter, but the thing about the little things is sometimes they are actually the "big" things.

With this in mind, let's think about some of the "little/big things" . . .

Abducktion - A Weirdly Strategic Duck Kidnapping Game

My daughter loves games and she introduced us to the game - Abducktion - it is now a favorite game to play at my house! What is Abducktion, you ask? Well, the creators describe it as, "Abducktion started in a very simple way — we wanted to make a game for grownups (and smart kids) that took only 15-20 minutes to play, just two minutes to explain, but was still strategic and competitive enough to make beating your friends and family still feel really, really good.

Here's the premise: Players are all interns on an alien UFO, working for an intergalactic corporation that has one main function: abducting ducks. (For research purposes, duh). But, ducks need to be collected in specific formations, and you'll have to use spatial logic and cunning to rearrange your ducks before your opponents to win!"

Yes, this game has UFOs, ducks, and LOTS of family fun for sure!

crafting with grandma - Alphabet Animals

There are lots of things which are fun about being "grandma" . . . the giving and receiving of hugs, kisses, and smiles certainly being at the top of the list! Another fun thing is being able to help your grandchildren learn new things - such as learning their A, B, C's. So, when I was browsing on Pinterest  the other day and saw Animal Alphabet, I knew I had to share it with you!

According to a Sweet Three -Year Old!

Ten years ago on a Wednesday; back then it was otherwise known as my day with the sweet grands - my two youngest grands were at my house and my then three-year old grand told me about the things they thought were important for a grandma to do . . . I thought I'd share them with you!

Created "Just Right"! - Available for Children Ages Three to Seven!

During COVID my grands and I put together twelve books  -the Life on the Goldilocks Planet  series - which help us see how animals show us God is real because He made everything "just right". In these books (which I have shared with you before), you find full-color photos, fun facts, along with crafts, science projects, and recipes for the entire family to enjoy as they learn about the animals and discover how they help them have a confident faith. These books (The Life on the Goldilocks Planet series) are ideal for children ages four through fourteen - and the entire family.
