Spring Book Review - Life on the Amazing Goldilocks Planet

I'm very happy to share a book with you which will make a difference in the lives of the children you love. Are you one of the grandmas (or grandpas) who are so blessed to have grown children who love and walk with God, and who are committed to hand down confident faith with you to the children you all love? Do your grandchildren want to go to church, want to talk about their walk with God, and embrace a confident faith of their own? Or, do you have grown children who, like so many their age, are no longer involved in church, who do not embrace a confident faith of their own, and/or grandchildren who tell you they are, "not into that church thing any more"?

Read Aloud to a Child Day AND Take a Child to a Library Day!

Technically today is Read Aloud to a Child Day (it is on the first Wednesday of February) AND Saturday is Take a Child to a Library Day, (it is the first Saturday of February), but these are things we can do every day, so I'm writing about them today. We all know statistics show children are not progressing when it comes to reading. We also all know when we read to a child from their earliest days and when we take them to libraries, we are showing them the value of reading and children who are read to and who visit libraries do better when it comes to reading. They become people who read! "World Read Aloud Day is heavily supported by LitWorld, an organization dedicated to bringing literacy to the world at large."

It is National Homemade Soup Day 4

Last month was National Soup Month, but today is National Homemade Soup Day, so I thought I'd share a recipe for a creamy potato soup which will put a smile on the face of any who eat it! So, gather the ingredients (you probably have them already), invite some family and/or friends, and get your soup going . . . it will be a tasty meal for sure!

Yesterday was Ukulele Day, and since I have reviewed a ukulele in the past, I thought I'd share my review again and some fun ukulele facts . . .

It is the Great American Pie Month and Bake for Family Fun Month, So Make . . . Apple Dessert!

February is the Great American Pie Month and Bake for Family Fun Month - these two celebrations definitely go together very well! I live in Michigan . . . otherwise known as Apple Country, so I have to have at least one go-to apple recipe! For me, it is my Apple Dessert . . . I know, not an incredible name, and not "technically" pie, but it is very close to being pie and it does taste incredible! It is very simple to make and if your family likes apples, it is a dessert they are sure to love - especially as they Bake for Family Fun during the Great American Pie Month!

Cacao, Peanut Butter, & Chocolate Chip Brownies - Enjoy!

Since February is the Celebration of Chocolate Month, it seems like the perfect time to share a wonderfully chocolate recipe for brownies! My family enjoys brownies - I make them once in awhile, so in case you might like to make them for the people you love, I thought I'd share a tasty recipe with you -

Please Stand Up & Speak Up

I write grandma's cookie jar to provide ideas for ways grandmas - and grandpas/moms/dads might connect the children they love with God and build strong, loving relationships. I share recipes, book reviews, fun facts, and more - I stay away from politics. But not today. People I know and love live in fear. People I do not know live in fear - and some are dying at the hands of our government. I can not stay silent. I do not believe Jesus would be silent, either. So, I am sharing images I found on instagram - they say what I am thinking.

Get ready to laugh! As I looked up some silly, but real laws in California, I realized we were likely to get a good laugh from these laws and have something funny to share with our grandchildren . . . to spread the laughing! After all, laughing is good for our health!
