National I Love My Feet Day!

Today is National I Love My Feet Day! Clearly feet make our lives easier . . . at least when it comes from getting from here to there, but they are also handy to have for standing, riding bikes, jumping, dancing, and so many more things! Aren't we all so glad God gave us feet!

So, to celebrate this special day, let's look at some fun feet facts - did you know . . .

  • Our feet have 52 bones (which is about 25% of the total bones in your body), 66 joints, 38 muscles, 20 tendons, and 214 ligaments.
  • It’s common for people to have one foot that’s bigger than the other.
  • All babies have flat feet. The arch of the foot does not develop until the age of 3.
You will find more foot facts at this link.

So, how might we celebrate National I Love My Feet Day? Consider gathering the children you love and make feet art - footprints in plaster or paint the bottoms of the feet and make t-shirts or pictures with feet prints! Or, you might have a dance contest - who can dance the longest, make up the funniest dance, or the trickiest dance step. Whatever you do, keep a camera handy and take photos because the children you love are growing - just like their feet!

Enjoy!
