Just for Fun!!! Did You Know . . . Sand Facts!

With Summer just a month or so away, it is likely you - or at least your grandchildren - will be spending time in or on sand . . . at the beach or in a sandbox! So, I thought it would be fun to share a couple "sandy facts" with you! Did you know . . . 

• The sandy beach of the Bay of Laig in Scotland resembles most other beaches throughout the world, but actually it is quite different. When touched or walked upon, the sand sings!
• If you have an equal volume of wet sand and dry sand, the wet sand weighs less! Quicksand is actually solid ground which has been liquefied by too much water.
• How about one more? The world’s tallest sandcastle measured 49.55 feet high and was completed on July 4, 2007 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. . . . it was sponsored by The Best Western Hotel of the Carolinas.
