Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Parks - Give the Gift of Nature!

My husband and I treated ourselves to a membership for the second year at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. We heard as you get older it is very beneficial for our health for us to spend time in nature, so since we live in West Michigan where for at least part of the year there is snow and nature is not very "inviting", we decided to get the membership as along with the amazing gardens and sculptures they also have a huge tropical conservatory - nature is available all year!

Now, let me say, West Michigan is beautiful and nature is all around -  I love the trees, lakes, animals - but the membership allows us to take our grandsons and a guest with us any time we go for the year - and they have special events, too - two months of butterflies in the tropical conservatory each March and April (our grandsons enjoyed the butterflies, but really love the Chinese Painted Quail which wander around!), beautiful Christmas decorations for their "Christmas Around the World" in November and December, and Chrysanthemums & More in September and October - it all is amazing (just follow the links for info on these events!) Lots of opportunities to be around nature for sure!

So, why am I writing about this? Because if you live in West Michigan, consider getting a membership for your family - it makes a fantastic Children's Day, late Mother's Day, Father's Day gift! If you do not, find somewhere near where you live which will get you out so you are able to move and experience nature - it is beneficial for all of you!

There is so much to see and do at Frederik Meijer Gardens - there is the Gwen Frostic Woodland Shade Garden, the Richard & Helen DeVos Japanese Garden, the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory, wetland's boardwalk, and the many bonsai trees in the special bonsai area of the Japanese Garden just to mention a few of the many highlights

So, if you live here, consider spending time at Meijer Gardens. If not, come visit, or find something near you where you are able to enjoy nature with your family!
