This past October I wrote about the amazing exhibit of art from Jaume Plensa at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, MI and today I want to write a bit more about it - you still have two months to see it! I absolutely love Meijer Gardens, they are widely recognized as a top sculpture park, having been named the Best Sculpture Park in the United States by USA TODAY 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards for three years in a row (2023, 2024, and 2025) - it won't surprise me if they are named best again this year as they are amazing! Twice a year they have a new sculpture exhibit in their main building and the current exhibit - Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism - will be available for you to enjoy until March 15, 2026 - and trust me, you will absolutely enjoy it!
Jaume Plensa's art is a part of the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park with two permanent installations - Utopia, the marble faces which greet you in the Garden Pavillion Welcome Center and I, You, She, or He sculptures in the main Sculpture Park - which are my youngest grandson's favorite sculpture - he loves to see how many words he can find in the letters which make up the sculptures!
I love how interesting Jaume Plensa's sculptures are - every time I look at them I see/find something new! Plus not only are the sculptures amazing - which they are, but the shadows they cast add even more to discover! This new exhibit is one I will absolutely want to go back and see over and over again! If you live near Grand Rapids, MI, you need to go see this new exhibit - if you live far, please find a way to make time to come visit - you will be SO glad you do! My husband and I have a Grandparents and a guest membership - we can go as often as we want throughout the year and bring our grandchildren and a guest with us - I highly recommend getting a membership if you live anywhere near Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park! If you have it, you will use it.
