Sandy - Yet Another Reason to Take Your Grandchildren or Children to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park!

When I was a child one of my favorite parts of visiting Meijer Grocery store, was Sandy the Penny Pony. We could ride Sandy for just a penny - and it was SO much fun! I am actually only one year older than Sandy, so it is safe to say Sandy was a staple of my childhood.

When I got married and had children, my children also enjoyed visits to Meijer and rides on the still-only-a-penny-pony, Sandy! Happily, when my grandchildren were younger, they also enjoyed rides on the surprisingly-still-only-a-penny-pony, Sandy!

But, now pennies are a thing of the past, so what happened to Sandy? Happily Meijer decided to relocate a Sandy to the Lena Meijer Children's Garden at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park! Yes, now you can take your children or grandchildren to Meijer Garden where rides on Sandy no longer cost a penny - they are free!

So many new wonderful things at the Children's Garden - the Big Girl Playground, the new Ice Cream Parlor, and now Sandy the free pony! Be sure to bring your camera for photos you will treasure!
