When my grands spend the night, nearly every Saturday, we always have bacon for breakfast the next morning, because they enjoy bacon. I am their grandma, so of course we have bacon! When I saw today is National Bacon Lovers Day, I had to let you know . . . it is absolutely a day to celebrate with the ones you love - if they love bacon! This past January when I had to get new glasses, I decided to try Pair Eyewear. This line of glasses was designed to have magnetic top frames which you are able to change out for an entirely new look and style - it is SUCH a fantastic idea! It is like getting an entirely new pair of glasses for only $25 or $30 - the cost of a new topper. I have to say, I absolutely LOVE Pair Eyewear!

I just ordered and received a new topper - Rainbow Splatter! What isn't there to love about a topper with colored splattered dots all over it! It is so much fun with all the color - a unique look for sure!

Today is National Ice Cream Pie Day!

My family LOVES peanut-butter pie! I've been making it for years . . . ever since my sister shared the recipe with me when I was first married . . . my family has been forever grateful to my sister for this! :^)

Well, a couple years ago it occurred to me, if I "tweaked" the recipe just a bit and substituted ice cream for the whipped cream, I might end up with a wonderful, new pie! So, I told my family they were going to be "guinea pigs" for a new peanut-butter pie recipe with ice cream in it . . . they said they were completely willing to be "guinia pigs" for that recipe! :^)

Yes, tomorrow we will all be able to celebrate the amazing honey bee as it is World Honey Bee Day on the 16th! On days of the year (dot) com it says, "World Honey Bee Day is an awareness day whereby honey bee enthusiasts, beekeeping associations and clubs, and beekeepers celebrate the honey bee. It is a day to recognize the contribution honey bees make to our everyday lives, as well as learning about the different steps we can take in order to protect this vital species." So, let's take a look at some fun honey and bee facts which we are able to share with the children we love - did you know . . . 

National Lemon Meringue Pie Day

Today is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day - and while I certainly enjoy a tasty slice of lemon meringue pie, I'm thinking more about celebrating this with a cross between a lemon bar and lemon chiffon pie! To make this tasty treat you just need to make a butter shortbread cookie lemon bar bottom, take your lemon curd, cool it, whip the egg whites to make meringue, then fold the lemon curd and meringue together - gently - and top on the cooled butter shortbread cookie crust. This is tasty for sure!

Summer Reading - Call Me Gray

Today I am very happy to share a special book with you from Kids Can Press - Call Me Gray, written by Andrew Larsen, Bells Larsen, and illustrated by Tallulah Fontaine. Before I let you know about this book, I want to ask if you know any people who were born with physical challenges due to something which happened as they grew in utero. One of my college room mates was born with a short left arm - it ended where your elbow is, and then she had a small thumb and two small fingers on a very small left "hand". Now, no one condemned my room mate for being born with a short left arm. No one attacked her with words or certainly not physically because she was born with a short left arm. Nor should they have ever done so.
