grandma's cookbook - Spritz Cookies

I LOVE Spritz cookies! I love the buttery flavor and the crisp, yet soft texture and the fun shapes you can make with a cookie press. I love the memories I have of making Spritz cookie with my mom and of course I love the taste of these classic Holiday cookies! I mean, what would Christmas be without Spritz cookies???? Well, of course Christmas is so much more than Spritz cookies, but they are one of my favorite parts of the Holiday season!

And, Spritz cookies are wonderful all year - even if we typically think of them at Christmas. So, I thought since it is National Cookies Month I'd share a simple Spritz recipe with you.

It is National M&M's Day!

What is your favorite type of M&M's? I personally LOVE their peanut butter M&M's, but also like their almond M&M's, too! My youngest grand is a big fan of peanut M&Ms. Well, whichever is your favorite, today is the day to enjoy it as it is National M&M's Day! Days of the year (dot) com says, "Invented in 1941, these tiny little bits of candy coated chocolate have made a huge impact on American history throughout their more than 80 years of life!" Let's look at some fun facts about these tasty candies - did you know . . .

The Relief for Grief is Now Available on Kindle ebook!

The past few years have brought blessings into our lives for sure, but with covid, many have experienced loss as well, whether it was the loss of someone they love, the loss of being able to spend time with the ones we love, the loss of a job, the loss of fellowship with others, the loss of our confidence, to mention just a few. Some of us have also experienced loss which was not related to covid as loss is a normal part of our lives.

grandma's chuckles - It Would Be Wonderful to Have Four Cookie Jars Filled with Cookies!

It is National Cookies Month and I am reminded of a busy cookie-baking day at this grandma's house a few years ago. On this particular day before my grands arrived for a visit, I made Peanut-butter, chocolate chip, oatmeal cookies and put them in my photo cookie jar. When they arrived we made Snicker-doodle-Sprinkles cookies and my youngest grand thought they should go in my penguin cookie jar.

Fall Book Review - Candy's Favorite Place

Yesterday I let you know about the new book,
A Family of Her Own for Candy, and today I want to let you know about another new book in the Candy the Cat series - Candy's Favorite Place! I wrote this book and as our little Kitten Candy settled into our home, I noticed there were several places where Candy liked to spend time - I thought writing about it would make a fun story for young children - especially if they love cats!

A Family of Her Own for Candy - New Look!

The summer of 2022 my husband, grands, and I went to the Humane Society to get a kitten. I wanted my grands to go with us because, first of all, they love all animals, secondly I wanted to be sure whatever cat we got was one which was able to be around my grands without being aggressive. We spent some time at the Humane Society and finally settled on a very sweet calico - which we named Candy, because she is sweet.

The Halloween Dilemma . . .

When it comes to Halloween, I have always felt a bit of a dilemma.  As a child it was harmless. I dressed up as princess, a Japanese girl in a kimono, etc . . . simple costumes with no focus on gore or evil. My siblings and I trick-or-treated to the neighbors' homes on our street and always felt like we really "scored" with our buckets of candy! After all, it was really all about the candy!!!

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies

My grands enjoy cookies, but one of their favorites is chocolate chip, peanut  butter cookies. When they were younger it was not unusual for them to go straight to the cookie jar when they arrived at my house - which was typically followed with very happy smiles on their faces!

Fall Book Review - Life on the Amazing Goldilocks Planet

I'm very happy to share a new book with you which will make a difference in the lives of the children you love. Are you one of the grandmas (or grandpas) who are so blessed to have grown children who love and walk with God, and who are committed to hand down confident faith with you to the children you all love? Do your grandchildren want to go to church, want to talk about their walk with God, and embrace a confident faith of their own? Or, do you have grown children who, like so many their age, are no longer involved in church, who do not embrace a confident faith of their own, and/or grandchildren who tell you they are, "not into that church thing any more"?

grandma's cookbook - Peanut-Butter Cup Cookies!
