Tomorrow is National Peanut Butter Fudge Day!

Since Wednesdays - Hump Day - can be a day which is difficult to start and may feel like a long day, I'm very happy to let you know tomorrow is, National Peanut Butter Fudge Day! Sounds like it will be a very sweet day indeed!

As I looked up the info on this sweet day, I found;

"The origins of Fudge Day are unknown, but it cannot be denied celebrating this delicious, sweet treat is a great way to spend the day. Fudge is a soft, smooth confectionary made by heating and mixing milk, butter, and sugar. I usually make squash rolls for Thanksgiving - they are quite a tasty roll for anytime, but especially wonderful for Thanksgiving dinner. I live in the house my grandparents built - my dad was born in this house and when I was a child, I often was able to have a sleepover at my grandparent's and always loved when my grandma baked bread - when it came out of the oven I always got a fresh-from-the-oven slice of bread to enjoy! What could be better! Now I'm the grandma in this house and when my grands come over I often make bread for them!

Today is National Homemade Bread Day, so I thought I'd share a favorite recipe for baguettes! I received baguette pans a few years ago for Christmas, so I found a recipe on-line which I use, but I do not steam the bread - I like a soft crust, not crunchy. I know, not a "true" baguette, but it is tasty for sure! You will find the recipe at this link.

November 26th is International Cake Day - Let's Make Lemon Cake!

November 26th is International Cake Day, so today seems like a great day to share my lemon cake recipe with you. Okay . . . the truth is I really do not need a reason to have cake because I do truly love cake . . . but even though I rarely eat cake, you might enjoy some, so what could be better than to share with you a  recipe for a lemon cake? Be Thankful - Beware of the Thankfulness Thieves

Yes, I know Thanksgiving is still a week and a half away and so of course we tend to think  about being thankful this time of year, but being thankful is more than just something we think about in November; it should characterize our lives every day! In I Thessalonians 5 we read:

"16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

These verses are talking about a heart attitude; not just a focus for November each year. So, what are those attitudes which damage or diminish this heart attitude in us; and in our grandchildren? Consider the following . . .

grandma's chuckles - Show Love to Grandma Day & Important Conversations

 

Today my heart is filled with thankfulness as I remember a wonderful day ten years ago which which my grands made up to celebrate; "Show Love to Grandma Day!" All three grands sat down at the table and started drawing hearts and flowers to make pictures for me, to say, "I love you!" Even my youngest grand (two years old at the time) wanted to get in on it all . . . he had me draw the flowers, then he colored them!
