Yesterday was National Dog Day!

Thursday evening a tornado went through about a mile from my house. My grandsons were here, so it did get a bit exciting for all. The power went out - we have a generator, so my husband hooked it up, but our internet also went out, so no posts for two days until everything was restored. Yesterday was National Dog Day, if I had internet I would have wrote about it yesterday, but dogs are wonderful, so every day should be National Dog Day - we will celebrate today! First let's look at some fun dog facts - did you know . . .

  • While my cat would not agree, dogs are the most popular pet on the planet.
  • A dog’s nose print is unique, much like a person’s fingerprint.
  • Forty-five percent of U.S. dogs sleep in their owner’s beds.
  • Seventy percent of people sign their dog’s name on their holiday cards.
  • Human blood pressure goes down when petting a dog. And so does the dog’s.
  • Dogs are not color-blind. They can see blue and yellow.
You will find more fun facts at this link.

For more dog fun check this link to find out which states have the most dogs, results from a dog survey, and how dogs are celebrated around the world.

So, take time today, on the day after National Dog Day, to celebrate your dog - they are wonderful additions to any family! (The dogs in the photo are my "grand-dogs" - Rosie the Basset, and Gimli and Roxi)
