Summer Reading - Catnip Mouse

Today I am happy to let you know about another new book from Kids Can Press - catnip mouse by AJ Smith.

Saturday - August 16th - is World Honey Bee Day!

Yes, tomorrow we will all be able to celebrate the amazing honey bee as it is World Honey Bee Day on the 16th! On days of the year (dot) com it says, "World Honey Bee Day is an awareness day whereby honey bee enthusiasts, beekeeping associations and clubs, and beekeepers celebrate the honey bee. It is a day to recognize the contribution honey bees make to our everyday lives, as well as learning about the different steps we can take in order to protect this vital species." So, let's take a look at some fun honey and bee facts which we are able to share with the children we love - did you know . . .

National Lemon Meringue Pie Day

Today is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day - and while I certainly enjoy a tasty slice of lemon meringue pie, I'm thinking more about celebrating this with a cross between a lemon bar and lemon chiffon pie! To make this tasty treat you just need to make a butter shortbread cookie lemon bar bottom, take your lemon curd, cool it, whip the egg whites to make meringue, then fold the lemon curd and meringue together - gently - and top on the cooled butter shortbread cookie crust. This is tasty for sure!

Summer Reading - Created "Just Right" - Look What Lives in Africa!

If we surround the children we love with books which will capture their attention, they will speak sooner, develop a larger vocabulary, learn to read sooner, do better at school, and will want to read all the time. Yesterday I wrote about one such book - Created "Just Right" - Look What Lives in Asia!and today I want to let you know about another book in the series which will absolutely capture the attention of the children you love - Created "Just Right" - Look What Lives in Africa! This is a picture book filled with full-color photos - two of each animal, and some interesting, fun facts about each one as well.

Summer Reading - Call Me Gray

Today I am very happy to share a special book with you from Kids Can Press - Call Me Gray, written by Andrew Larsen, Bells Larsen, and illustrated by Tallulah Fontaine. Before I let you know about this book, I want to ask if you know any people who were born with physical challenges due to something which happened as they grew in utero. One of my college room mates was born with a short left arm - it ended where your elbow is, and then she had a small thumb and two small fingers on a very small left "hand". Now, no one condemned my room mate for being born with a short left arm. No one attacked her with words or certainly not physically because she was born with a short left arm. Nor should they have ever done so.

Today, August 14th, is National Creamsicle Day and a Recipe for Creamsicle Pie!

Who knew such a day even existed, but since it does, why not celebrate it??? :-) I like  creamsicles - after all, what isn't there to like about a bit of ice cream covered with an orange sherbet?

Summer Reading - I Like Your Face

I'm very happy today to share with you about another new book from Kids Can Press - I Like Your Face, written by Brad Davidson and illustrated by Rachel Mas Davidson.

It is Time for a Picnic!

When my grands were younger they enjoyed picnics - if the children you love enjoy them as well, consider making plans for a tasty time together before school begins. Gather the ones you love, decide on a menu, make a shopping list, prepare food together, and choose the location for your picnic - be sure to bring your camera!

So, since this post is about picnics, I thought it would be fun today to share some "picnic" info with you! Did you know . . .

Summer Reading - Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe

As I shared over the past couple weeks, during covid my grands and I wrote 12 books about animals, so earlier this year I took the animals from these books and put together a series for young children (although everyone loves picture books about animals, so all ages will enjoy them!) Today I am happy to let you know about the book - "Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe".  This is a picture book filled with full-color photos - two of each animal, and some interesting, fun facts about each one as well.

Summer Reading - Camping in the Wild

Today I'm happy to let you know about a fun, new book from Kids Can Press, by Nicholas Oldland - Camping in the Wild! This is a book which will capture the attention of the children you love - and one you will enjoy reading as well!

World Elephant Day!

Today is a special day, it is World Elephant Day! I personally love elephants - especially Pygmy Elephants (which, yes, are a real thing), so a day to focus on and celebrate these amazing animals is certainly a day worth celebrating! Let's start with some fun elephant facts, did you know . . .

Summer Reading - Created 'Just Right! Look What Lives in Australia & New Zealand

During COVID my grands and I put together the twelve books in the  Life on the Goldilocks Planet series which help us see how animals show us God is real because He made everything "just right". In these books (which I have shared with you over the past couple weeks), you find full-color photos, fun facts, along with crafts, science projects, and recipes for the entire family to enjoy as they learn about the animals and discover how they help them have a confident faith. These books (The Life on the Goldilocks Planet series) are ideal for children ages four through fourteen - and the entire family.

But, since younger children enjoy picture books, I took animals from these books and combined them into six picture books which show animals and include just a couple of the fun facts for each animal to make books for younger children ages three through seven. These new books - "Created 'Just Right!'" are now available in both print and kindle ebook formats!

Summer Reading - A Walk in the Park
