Mother's Day is May 10th so I thought I'd share a gift idea which you could help your grandchildren make for their mom. I was browsing on Pinterest  and found a craft which you could help your grandchildren with depending on the level of help they need - older grandchildren would need little help and younger grandchildren would need more, but it is a craft which many children could make!

My grands typically spend the night on Saturdays, and since my oldest grand is just a few months from being 18, I know what an amazing blessing it is they still want to come for their weekly sleepover! When they are here we often play Abducktion (a very fun board game) or chess - both require strategy and my grands are quite strategic!

Don't you just love it when your grandchildren show their imagination? Well, nine years ago when my youngest grandson was three, he looked at his Poppa and said; "I'm Kenobi, Kenobi." Then ran at him to attack! Apparently Kenobi, Kenobi (Obi Wan Kenobi) decided Poppa was Darth Vadar and had to attack him! Kenobi, Kenobi did very well - defeated Darth Vadar. I asked him if Poppa might be tired (after about 20 minutes of running full bore at poppa, arms - light sabers - flailing) and maybe he was in need of a hug. To which he said (rather indignantly) "He is NOT Poppa. He is Darth Vadar. I can NOT hug him!" Of course he can not!

In this day and age it is especially important for grandparents (and parents) to be focused upon passing confident faith to the children they love, but it can be a challenge to find resources to help us do this. Generations Quest ~ Cultivate the Faith was written for this reason and provides 52 weeks of lessons grandparents/ parents will be able to use to engage our grandchildren/children in learning how to love, know, and walk with God!

Each week there is a science activity which will engage children and connect them to the point of the Bible event. They will learn about Bible people and how to pray the Psalms back to God along with fun activities which are just for fun!

My home is not far from Holland, MI, the location of a pretty amazing yearly Tulip Festival! Tulips are well liked in this area - and for excellent reason - they are beautiful, available in many colors, some have "frills", and they are another of the first-blooming flowers in the Spring! What isn't there to love about tulips!

Heritage . . .

When you think back on your grandparents, do you have memories of times spent with them? Are there aromas and tastes you recall? Are there things which once belonged to them and now are small bits of your heritage? Today is, "Cherish An Antique Day", which made me think about a couple "antiques" I have . . . or at least a couple family "treasures" which originally belonged to my grandmothers. These items may not really be "antiques" or "treasures", but I am thankful to have them.

In the past I have written about how they "connect" with passing on a heritage. I said; "Passing on a heritage involves retelling the family history; telling about the time when you went fishing with your grandpa and then had a fish fry with the day's catch! It is talking about the times when you all went on a vacation together and the car with your grandparents and little brothers missed the exit and they got lost! (On Mother's Day, no less!) It is about sharing a recipe for the most delicious rolls your grandma used to make, and now you are the grandma, you make them for your grandchildren!

As grandparents we know how important it is to be intentional when it comes to blessing our grandchildren. Perhaps you have a Scripture passage which you use to bless your grandchildren on a regular basis. This is an important thing for us to do.
