Don't Worry; It is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren

I've been writing for several years about how important it is for us, as grandparents to hand down a heritage of confident faith. One way I do this is to let you know about resources to help you as you do this. In Don't Worry; It is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren, along with sharing some of my "cute-grand stories", I talk about important things for grandparents to think about and keep in mind as they focus on handing down a heritage of confident faith to their grandchildren.  Today I thought I'd share another "look" at the book with a short excerpt from my book . . .

grandma's cookbook . . . Strawberries & Cream Pie!

In keeping with the idea of Summer fun, I thought today would be a great day to share a recipe for a strawberries & cream pie!

Summer Fun - Make Your Own Water Park!

Since tomorrow (Sunday June 14th) is Children's Day (yes it is a real holiday), the summer is upon us, and it is likely to be warm, making your own water park . . . if the children you love have zero qualms about getting wet - absolutely  must be part of your plans.

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Nahanni National Park Reserve

If your favorite National Parks include mountains, water falls, rivers, caves, and lots of nature, then Nahanni National Park Reserve in the Northwest Territory is absolutely a place you want to visit!

The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures!

From time to time I share how when my grands were young and at my house for a sleepover, we typically made up stories at bedtime. They almost always had monsters or dinosaurs in them. One night when my oldest grand was six, my middle grand was three, and my youngest grand was one, we were getting them into bed when my oldest grand said there was a monster under my middle grand's bed! This was not what my middle grand wanted to hear, so I said there could not be any monsters under the bed because the monsters were at their poppa's and grandma's house getting ready for bed on their sleepover. My grands found this idea very interesting, so of course, our bedtime story for the night had to have little, ginormous, humongous, hairy, one-eyed monsters getting ready for bed and being scared because they thought they saw, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty, not-so-hairy, two-eyed people under their beds!

Fun at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park

If you live in or near West Michigan, you not only know what Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park are, but have likely visited it; more than once. If you do not live in this area of the country, you may not be familiar with them, but today I'm very happy to share with you about this amazing and beautiful place where you and your grandchildren will be able to explore, discover and have tremendous fun together!

I'll start with sharing how they describe themselves and then what my family thinks of them; Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park says . . .

Today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day

Oh yes . . . one of my favorite store-bought cookies is the classic, Nutter Butter Cookie, so since today is National Peanut Butter Cookie Day and I saw a recipe for making a homemade version of Nutter Butters, well, I had to share it, but first let's look at some fun peanut butter facts - did you know . . .

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Nááts'ihch'oh National Park Reserve

Many National Parks are places where entire families are able to go to learn about and experience the beauty and wonder of nature in all its glory, but some National Parks are place for people who are highly experienced when it comes to safely working their way through rugged, wild nature - Nááts'ihch'oh National Park Reserve is once such place.

Life on the Amazing Goldilocks Planet

I'm very happy to share a new book with you which will make a difference in the lives of the children you love.  Are you one of the grandmas (or grandpas) who are so blessed to have grown children who love and walk with God, and who are committed to hand down confident faith with you to the children you all love? Do your grandchildren want to go to church, want to talk about their walk with God, and embrace a confident faith of their own? Or, do you have grown children who, like so many their age, are no longer involved in church, who do not embrace a confident faith of their own, and/or grandchildren who tell you they are, "not into that church thing any more"?

Children's Day - Yes, It Is Real!

In three day's - on June 14th - it is Children's Day! Yes, it is a real holiday . . . (If you look it up on Google, it says the USA celebrates Children's Day on the second Sunday in June - this has been the official date since the 1800's - I really did not make this holiday up!!!) :-)

crafting with grandma - Crocheted Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls!

I have always been a "fan" of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls! In fact, the first doll I bought my daughter was a Raggedy Ann doll! After all what isn't there to love about these sweet dolls which have been loved "friends" of children for decades??!!! Sweet, huggable and oh, so  lovable, Raggedy Ann dolls are classics for a reason!

Thoughts From a "Lost Canadian" About Mount Revelstoke National Park

Forty-six years ago I met my husband on an active volcano in Northern California - yes, there is an active volcano in Northern California - Mount Lassen! So, of course, I am quite partial to Mount Lassen National Park in California - it is truly beautiful and one of the wonderful things about Lassen, is even though it is nearly 15,000 feet tall, you are able to hike to the top of Lassen in a relatively easy hike the whole family can enjoy together.

The Canadian National Park I am very happy to let you know about today is Mount Revelstoke National Park in British Columbia and like Mount Lassen, you are able to hike to the top of Mount Revelstoke taking just an easy hike with your entire family!

Fun Science Project

When my grands were younger, they loved science projects . . . one reason I included science projects in my book for families - Generations Quest - Cultivate the Faith! They were such engaging, "hands-on" and memorable ways to help my grands learn important things. So, I was always on the watch for new projects which I could use with my grands.

Make 2026 the year where you and the children you love grow closer as you experience science projects together and discover the adventure of learning about God's Word and the world God created - you will find my book at this link.

What Do Your Grands Call You?

What do your grandchildren call you? Are you, Grandma, Nana, Memaw, or something entirely unique? A friend told me his grandchildren called their grandma, "G-Money" - they didn't know why, and a reader once told me when her grandchildren were little they called her, "Dave" - again, no one knew why! When my grands were little they called me, “Ga” - I loved being “Ga”! Now they call me, "Grandma" or "Grandmother" and I love both of them, too!
