"Grandmas are Filled with Love from the Bottom of their Feet to the Tippy of Their Heads!"

As I have mentioned a time or two on this blog (or maybe more) I enjoy reading the "memories" section on my facebook page each morning. When my grandsons were little, I wrote on facebook the cute things they said and did, now thanks to "memories" I am able to enjoy those things all over again whenever they show up on my page! Yesterday I was reminded of something my then five year old grandson said; "Grandmas are filled with love from the bottom of their feet to the tippy of their heads!"

It is Happy Cat Month!

Do you have a cat? We do. Candy is our calico cat, we got her last year from the local Humane Society, and she seems to be a happy cat, so when I saw how September is "happy cat month", I thought I'd share some ideas about how to celebrate.

Initially the idea behind Happy Cat Month is to encourage people to keep their cats healthy and take them to a vet to ensure they are healthy.

Fall is upon us - at least here in Michigan, as the trees are turning color - it will be a beautiful Fall for sure! This means the outside will become significantly more inviting, so if you - or someone you love - has mobility issues, then definitely consider getting a Centuro Mini and you will discover you (or they) are able to enjoy the outdoors and all Fall has to offer!

Today is American Chess Day!

Today is American Chess Day! My grandsons all play Chess, and my middle grandson (12 years old) just came in second in his first Chess Tournament! (The cat in the photo is my grandson's cat.) Chess is a great game for all ages to play, just look at this fact . . . "A Venezuelan study found an increase in IQ scores of its participants after four months of learning and playing chess. Another study found games which require participants to use their brains, especially players older in age, help those participants to be less likely to develop dementia. It also enhances problem-solving skills, as players have to maneuver and manage the game and their opponent." I found this quote on the NationalToday site - you will find out more about Chess at this link.

Today is National Zoo Awareness Day!

Today is National Zoo Awareness Day! John Ball Zoo is the closest zoo to where I live, and if you live near Grand Rapids Michigan I can not recommend it strongly enough as it is fantastic! I wrote a few weeks ago about a recent visit to John Ball Zoo with my grandsons - you will find it at this link. But if you do not live near this zoo, make time to visit whichever zoo is closest to you - and take the children you love with you!

Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day! Clearly roasting a marshmallow over an open flame, getting it the perfect toasted brown color, putting it on a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers is the typical way we picture enjoying toasted marshmallows - and it is absolutely a wonderful way to do so, but before you gather your supplies for making smores, take a look at these fun marshmallow facts - did you know . . .
